Recently much of the ocean around the Welsh coast which was commonly used for scallop dredging was closed off temporarily until March 1 next year from the scallop dredgers so that the seabed could have a chance to recover. For the unfamiliar, scallop dredging involves dragging metal-toothed frames through the seabed to dislodge shellfish into a chain-mesh bag behind.
Obviously the scallop dredgers aren't all too pleased about this. They insist that it is harmless to animals apart from the shellfish they collect. Mmmm. Because everyone knows how harmless moving giant, metal spikes are. Seriously, if you're going to come up with an argument for your job, at least come up with a decent one!
